Best Sugar Cookies in the World

• 1 cup shortening
• ½ cup powdered sugar
• ½ cup granulated sugar
• 2 tablespoons soft butter
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1 egg
• 2 cups flour
• ½ teaspoon cream of tartar
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• ½ teaspoon salt

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Cream shortening, sugars and butter. Stir in vanilla and egg. Mix dry ingredients and blend into shortening mixture. Refrigerate 10-15 minutes.
3. Put about a tablespoon of mixture 3 inches apart on un-greased baking sheet.
4. Bake for 12 minutes at 350 degrees. When cooling, sprinkle with sugar.
